RECOLLECTIONS: MARTIAL LAW 1081
Recollection 1081 at Liongoren Gallery
Art works done during and after the Martial Rule of the conjugal dictatorship of deposed President Ferdinand and former First LadyImelda Marcos(1972 – 1986) are on exhibit at the Liongoren Gallery from September 22 to Oct 22, 2012. They speak of what are country went thru during that dark period of our history. The show include works of art in different media by the stalwarts of social realism: Pablo Baensantos, Antipas Delotavo, Edgar Talusan Fernandez, Renato Habulan, Orlando Castillo, Boggie Ruiz, Aster Tecson, Neil Doloricon,Benjie Torrado Cabrera,Anna Fer and Alfredo Liongoren. Artists from PAngasinan are represented by Paco Santos, Jojit Solano and Patrick Fernandez. The show is enriched by the participation of new works by Kasibulan members (Kababaihan
Sa Sining Biswal ng Bagong Kamalayan) Brenda Fajardo, Imelda Cajipe Endaya,June Dalisay, Tala Contreras, Ramon dela Cruz Gaston, Brenda Fajardo, Vivian Nucom Limpin, Elaine Lopez Clemente, Cez Nunez, Eden Ocampo, Gabie Osorio, Alma Quinto, Doris G. Rodriguez, Christine Sioco, Lia Torralba & Clairelynn Uy. New paintings by martial law babies artists Dayong Mendoza, Daniel Coquilla, and Neil Manalo are also included. Some significant poems written during that period could be read as wall texts in the exhibit. They are by Pete Lacaba, Mila Aguilar, Roger Mangahas and slain poet activist Eman Lacaba .
Lessons learned is a cry of our time as far as 1081. It is best articulated in poems, songs
and art masterpieces.
